A: If you are having difficulty connecting to your wireless network when using the Max Wireless Adapter, please try repeating the setup process starting on page 5 of your manual. This process must be completed in order for the adapter to be properly configured to connect to your network when used with your console. During this process, please ensure you have completed the following steps.
- When configuring the AP Client Settings, after scanning for your network, you will see the Peer Address displayed near the bottom of the screen. To the right of this address, you should see the SSID of your wireless network. Click the button to the left of the Peer Address display (Under Enable), and the SSID displayed near the top of the screen should change to the SSID of your wireless network. Click on Apply in the lower-right corner to write these settings to the adapter.
- When configuring the Wireless Settings, be sure to enable the option for MAC Clone if you are using DSL broadband service that comes through a telephone line. This feature must be enabled for this type of service.
- If your network has any kind of security enabled, such as a WEP key or WPA, these settings will need to be configured under the Wireless Security option. Click on the name of the type of security used with your network, and you will find configuration options there. After configuring that security type, be sure to check the box confirming that this type of security will be used.
After successfully configuring your Max Wireless Adapter and reverting your TCP/IP settings to normal, try connecting the adapter to your console again. Ensure all connections are secure, and that all 3 lights on the adapter are illuminated. If you are still encountering problems with the unit, ensure that your router has been configured to be used with wireless devices properly. Also, ensure that you have configured the Max Wireless Adapter with the correct security settings for your router. For more information about what security may be enabled for your router, please check your router’s instruction manual or contact your manufacturer or provider.
A: If the PC that you are using normally connects to your network wirelessly instead of through an Ethernet cable, you may encounter difficulty when trying to connect to the IP address of the Max Wireless Adapter for configuration.
Try temporarily disabling your PC’s wireless connection in the Network Connections menu (accessed through the control panel) by right-clicking on the icon for your Wireless Connection and choosing “Disable”. Restart your PC after disabling this connection, and resume the configuration process. Remember your Max Wireless Adapter should be connected to your PC by its internet cable and USB power cable during configuration.
