In this section, we'll cover the following steps for setting up the WiFi Max:
If you have previously installed WiFi Max, please first ensure you have uninstalled the ZDWlan software before continuing. First, unplug your WiFi Max adapter from the PC. Next, go to the Control Panel and click on the icon "Add/Remove Programs". The ZyDAS software should be located near the bottom of your list of installed programs, and should be entitled:

Please Note: If you receive an error message stating that “The specified location does not contain information about your hardware”, you may need to install a newer version of the ZyDas Configuration Utility. Instructions for this task will be included at the end of this document.
Configuring your WiFi Max Dongle
Once the drivers have been installed, we will start the ZyDAS Wireless Configuration Tool to prepare the WiFi Max dongle for the PSP to connect to it. Check for a ZD icon in the lower-right corner of your PC screen, near the clock. If not present, you may also open the software through the start menu by choosing Programs, then ZyDAS IEEE 802.11 b+g Wireless LAN – USB, and finally ZDWlan Utility.
Please Note: If your ZDWlan Utility will not open after selecting it, you may need to install a newer version of the ZyDas Configuration Utility. Instructions for this task will be included at the end of this document.
Sharing your PC’s Internet Connection:
In order for your PSP to connect to the internet through your PC, it may be necessary to activate sharing of your broadband internet connection. Detailed steps for performing this change will vary depending on your operating system. However, some general guidelines have been included.
You may also find instructions for performing this task in Windows XP in the support section at www.microsoft.com. Click on the previous link to view these instructions. If you are still unable to activate Internet Connection Sharing after following these guidelines and instructions, please contact Microsoft or your PC’s manufacturer for further assistance with that particular task.
Installing the updated version of the ZDWlan software:
If Windows did not automatically install drivers for your WiFi Max dongle, or if the ZDWlan utility does not open when selected in the Start menu, then you may need to update your software and drivers.

If you have difficulty finding the access point, or receive an error when obtaining your IP address, please first ensure you are using WiFi Max on a broadband-enabled PC. Unfortunately WiFi Max is not compatible with dial-up internet connections, only DSL or Cable.
Next, open your ZDWlan configuration Utility on the PC. Check the lower right corner of your Desktop for a ZD icon, and double-click it to see the options for WiFi Max. If you are using WiFi Max to connect your console to the internet, your Mode should read “Access Point.” Also, click on the “More Settings” button and please ensure the following:
In order for your PSP, DS, or Wii to connect to the internet through your PC, it may be necessary to activate sharing of your broadband internet connection.
After confirming all settings above, if you are still unable to connect it may be helpful to reset the sharing of your connection. Repeat the steps for sharing as above, but when you encounter the checkbox labeled “Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection”, click on the box to remove the check, and then select OK. Immediately afterwards, repeat the steps once again, recheck the box, and click OK again. After resharing the connection, try and connect on your PSP or DS. Be sure your PC has finished saving the changes you have just made, and that it is not still performing any operations. (You should not see an hourglass for your mouse icon)
Certain security features on your PC may also interfere with WiFi Max properly creating a connection for your console. Try temporarily disabling any Antivirus Autoprotect features you may have enabled, as well as any Firewall protection on your PC. If you are able to connect while these programs are disabled, but not when they are enabled, this indicates these security features are the cause of your issue. Consult the documentation included with your security software or the software’s manufacturer for more information about allowing specific programs to bypass these security features so that you may use WiFi Max while they are enabled.
Answer:
First of all, follow this link and update your drivers. This is especially important if you're using Windows Vista. There’s also a document on installing WiFi MAX with Vista there, which may come in useful.
Whichever version of Windows you use, make sure you're using the provided docking station, as the dongle sometimes has trouble fitting into an onboard USB port due to its size. If you're using a USB hub or a port on the front of your machine, try connecting via a port on the back of the computer.
Is the dongle shown within device manager as an unknown device, with a yellow question mark, or is it shown as installed within the network adapters section? To access device manager please follow these steps:
If the dongle is shown as an unknown device within device manager, follow these steps:
This should enable the software to recognize the dongle.
Answer:
Yes - download the necessary help file below for details on how to do it. If you're using Vista 32-bit, download the updated drivers too.
Answer:
The WiFi MAX software issued with the product is not Mac compatible, so a Mac user can never take advantage of the media manager capabilities, though it is possible to use the dongle to get online with your console.
Download the Mac OSX version of the ZyDAS software.
Install the correct version for your operating system as instructed in the download. Please note Datel does not support WiFi MAX with the Mac, so any issues you experience will have to be discussed with ZyDAS.
Answer:
First of all, try enabling Internet Sharing in Windows. To do this, go to Control Panel, select Network Connection, then enable the Sharing option. If this doesn’t work, read the attached document, which should cover all eventualities.
Failing that, if you’re using a USB modem, is it detected within the Zydas software supplied with WiFi MAX? If it’s not detected, uninstall the internet provider’s modem software and install the modem manufacturer’s drivers from their website. After this, run the windows internet connections set-up wizard.
Answer:
With your main PC and dongle set to be an access point (dongle is in "station" mode), your console can use the access point to connect to the internet. Then, if you put a dongle in your second PC and set it up to be a wireless card (dongle is in "access" mode), this PC can then connect to the main PC and access the internet. The PCs will also be networked.
Answer:
"Unable to obtain IP Address" from the DHCP server usually means there is a firewall (hardware or software) somewhere that is set to refuse to allow other computers to connect to the network – it does this by not giving an IP address to a computer that is trying to connect to the network.
The firewall could be a software firewall like Zonealarm on the users PC, or a firewall built into the users hardware like a router, or even on the motherboard (like Nvidia NForce chipsets). Or, if the user is on a network then the firewall could be on the DHCP server itself or just before the connection to the outside world. You need to reconfigure your firewall to allow a connection – contact the firewall provider for information as to how.
The only other thing to consider is if your broadband account uses static IP addresses (as in not Dynamic IP addresses). This is very rare and usually only the case for people with business broadband connections that have servers on (they host web pages, and hence need a static IP address). In this case you need to assign an IP address on your network (or from your provider) and enter this in the console settings.
