Nintendo DSi System Sotware v1.4.5 Compatibility Update

Attention DSi AR owners:

Nintendo DSi system software update 1.4.5

Datel has learned that the DSi Action Replay (none 3DS compatible) platform is affected by the January, 2013 software update 1.4.5.

After upgrading your Nintendo DSi console to version 1.4.5. or above you will need to update your DSi Action Replay using the update software provided in the download link below.

Please beware that this update is not intended for use with the 3DS compatible DSi Action Replay.

Q: Is the Action Replay compatible with my 3DS console?

Answer:

Older versions of the DSi Action Replay hardware are NOT compatible with the 3DS console, however, the latest hardware being produced and shipped directlyfrom www.codejunkies.com will allow codes to run on DS/DSi games on a 3DS console.

Older hardware versions cannot be upgraded to be compatible with the 3DS console via software update; new Action Replay DSi hardware must be purchased from Code Junkies to ensure compatibility.

Q: Pokemon Black & White DSi Firmware Update REQUIRED!

Answer:

To ensure compatibility with the DSi Action Replay and Pokemon Black / White Version, you must update to the latest firmware version.

DO NOT UNPLUG THE USB CABLE, REMOVE THE ACTION REPLAY OR POWER OFF THE CONSOLE WHILE UPDATING THE FIRMWARE; WAIT FOR IT TO COMPLETE!

Remove all game cartridges from the Action Replay pass-through slot before starting the update process.

Be sure your DSi Action Replay is not connected to your DS/DSi console.

Do not insert a game cart during the firmware update process.

Q: Code Manager Subscription says “LOAD FAILED”; what do I do?

Answer:

From time to time we must perform routine server maintenance to ensure our website and software are operating efficiently and seamlessly. While this maintenance is being performed, you may experience problems connecting to the code database and receive a load failed error message upon clicking the "+" next to any of the three Codejunkies.com subscriptions.

Upon opeing the Action Replay Code Manager software, you should see 3 different code lists:

  • + Codejunkies US Games
  • + Codejunkies UK Games
  • + Codejunkies JP Games

If these three listings are not being displayed in the subscriptions window, and a "Load Failed" message appears instead, there may be a problem with your internet connection or your PC may be disabling the connection between the software and our servers. Be sure your PC has a functional connection to the internet and try disabling any Antivirus or Firewall software that may be enabled, as these can prohibit a connection to our server.

Video Tutorial:

The only other known reasons for the "load failed" error, and their solutions are as follows:

The code manager software needs to be updated.

Install the latest version of the Code Manager software.

Firewall, anti-virus / malware software is preventing the Action Replay Code Manager from communicating properly with the Codejunkies.com servers.

First try disabling any Antivirus or Firewall software you may have enabled, as these can interfere with the connection. Adding the code manager software to the "approved" programs list of any anti-virus or firewall is strongly suggested. (We are unable to assist with firewall, anti-virus or anti-malware software.) Also, if you are part of a larger network such as at a school or office, some of the security settings may be beyond your ability to change. In this case, please contact your local IT manager for more information.

If the product is within warranty, we will determine if the malfunction was due to a defect, and replace the product if so. Please be sure to include all components of the product that you are exchanging, a short letter explaining the issue, and your return address and contact information.

Check the codelist on the left-hand side of the code manager software for the title of the game you're attempting to use with the AR DSi. After successfully updating these codes, return to the home screen of your Action Replay and re-insert the game.

If you still receive the error “Unknown Game, then unfortunately you may have an alternate version of the game in question.

Q: How do I add a code subscription to the Code Manager?

Answer:

Here is an example of a functional code subscription:

The Quick Update subscription URL, provided by Datel Customer Service is:

http://www.datelcustomerservice.com/codelists/ARDS_RSS.xml

To add codes from another website to your subscriptions list, you will need to find the link to that website's RSS Feeds (not all websites have this). Once you have the correct link, perform the following steps:

  1. Click on the "Add New Subscription" Button in the AR DS Software.
  2. Copy the above sample link into the "Add New Subscription" Box.
  3. Click “OK"

If successful, you will see any code lists included in the subscription which can be expanded to display their games and codes.

Adding Subscriptions from an unofficial website:

To add codes from another website to your subscriptions list, you will need to find the link to that website's RSS Feeds (not all websites have this).

Once you have the correct link, you can click on the Add New Subscription Button in the AR DSi Software and copy the link into the "Add New Subscription" Box.

If successful, you will see any code lists included in the subscription which can be expanded to display their games and codes.

Q: How do I run homebrew applications & games?

Answer:

Unfortunately, since homebrew games are not made or distributed by Datel, we cannot guarantee compatibility of specific homebrew games with the Action Replay DSi.

When downloading a homebrew game from the internet, download the game or application to your PC and then copy the “.nds” file to your Action Replay’s Micro SD Card.  Make sure that you are using applications that are designed for the Nintendo DS.

Once the files are loaded onto the Micro SD Card, insert the Micro SD Card into the Action Replay DSi and load it on the Nintendo DSi.  When the Action Replay loads, choose “Files” from the main menu.

Applications that are in the correct format will appear with a soccer ball icon next to them.  Choose the application that you wish to use from the list.

Press “A” or double click continue to run the application.

If the application does not run or loads to a white screen, there may be a problem with that particular application.  In this case, we would recommend contacting the creator of the application to see if there are any known issues with the file.

Q: How do I back-up my game save data?

Answer:

  • Choose “Saves” from the main menu
  • Choose the save that you wish to restore
  • You will be asked to confirm that you want to restore this game save.
