Q: Why won't my GameCube Action Replay load on my Nintendo Wii?

Unfortunately, due to the most recent Wii update, older versions of the Gamecube Action Replay are no longer compatible with the Nintendo Wii console. We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you recently purchased the GameCube Action Replay please use the 'Still Need Help' option on this site to contact us.

Q: I just purchased a new GameCube console and my Action Replay disc will not load; what should I do?

Unfortunately, the newer GameCube (model DOL-101) will not recognize any version of the Action Replay below Version 1.14. You can find your model number by looking at the black label on the underside of your GameCube.

If you have recently purchased an Action Replay that is not compatible with your console, please send your Action Replay disc to the address below with a copy of the original sales receipt verifying that the product is still within the 90 day warranty and we will replace it with a version that is compatible. Please include a short letter explaining the issue and be sure to include your return address.

Q: I have version 1.20 of the GameCube Action Replay and my GameCube cannot read the disc; what can I do?

Unfortunately, there are some compatibility issues with Action Replay Version 1.20 and some models of the GameCube. Please send the Action Replay Disc (you do not need to send the whole product) along with a copy of the receipt showing that the Action Replay was purchased within the past 90 days and we will send a compatible version of the Action Replay out to you.

Q: How can I use the WaveBird controller with my GameCube Action Replay?

The WaveBird will function with the GameCube Action Replay. However, in order for the system to see it, you will need to have the WaveBird turned on before the ActionReplay is loaded.

Once the GameCube logo appears you will need to press any button on the controller. Your WaveBird should now function with the Action Replay.

Q: Will there be any Action Replay codes for any of the Phantasy Star Online games for GameCube?

Datel has no plans to ever create codes for Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II, as well as Phantasy Star Online III C.A.R.D.

Datel does not support online cheating in any way, and unfortunately even offline codes for this game would have the potential for abuse by online players wanting to cheat. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Q: When I load up the GameCube Action Replay, the cursor scrolls through the menu on its own; what should I do?

There are various reasons this could be happening...

  1. Try unplugging all controllers from the console. Reconnect the controllers, while ensuring that the analog stick is in the neutral (center) position; this should resolve the problem.
  2. There may be an issue with one of the devices that you have plugged into your GameCube. Try unplugging every device from your GameCube except for the first controller.
Q: When I try to play my game with codes activated I get a “Wrong device in slot B” error message; why?
  1. You will need to remove the Action Replay dongle from slot B when the game displays the following message: “Wrong Device in Slot B”.
  2. Press the A button on your controller and the following message should appear: “No Memory Card in Slot B, Do you wish to continue?”
  3. Press A to continue and your game will load; the codes will continue to work.

Please Note: As long as you have a memory card inserted in Slot A you will be able to save your progress normally.

Q: My GameCube does not recognize my Action Replay card as a memory card; what should I do?

There are two different versions of the GameCube Action Replay. If your Action Replay dongle has a purple AR sticker then you have the standard version of the GameCube Action Replay which is NOT a memory card.

If your Action Replay card has a gray AR sticker then you have the limited edition version of the GameCube Action Replay. This Action Replay dongle DOES serve as a standard GameCube memory card and can be used to save your game progress.

If you are using the limited edition version of the Action Replay, and your GameCube or games still do not recognize the Action Replay dongle as a memory card, please contact us using the "Still Need Help?" option on this site.

Q: I want to reset my Action Replay hardware; how do I do this?

When you load up the GameCube Action Replay pelrform the following steps:

  1. Choose “Options” on the main menu screen.
  2. Highlight “Reset Hardware” and then press the A button.
  3. A message will then pop up asking:
“Are you sure you would like to reset your hardware”
  4. Choose YES.
Once the hardware has been reset the following message should appear: “The Action Replay hardware has been reset correctly”
  5. Press the A button.

Your Action Replay hardware has new been reset.

Q: How do I add codes to the GameCube Action Replay?

Please Note: The Add New Games / Codes Feature is no longer included in Gamecube Action Replay Version 1.20, Wii compatible & higher discs.

For versions below Version 1.20, use the following steps to add codes to your GC Action Replay:

  1. Turn on your GameCube with the Action Replay disc inserted.
  2. Choose Action Replay Codes
  3. Choose the US flag.
  4. Select “Add New Game”
  5. Enter in the name of the game.
  6. Once the game name has been entered, highlight “DONE” & press A.
  7. Name your (M) code.
This can be named anything you'd like, or you can just enter (M).
  8. Once you’ve named your (M) code, highlight "DONE" and press A.
  9. Carefully enter the actual (M) code
  10. Once you have finished entering the (M) code, highlight "DONE" and press A twice. (This will save the (M) code.)
  11. Return to the screen displaying your new game name and (M) code and select “Add New Code”.
  12. Enter the name of the code you would like to add.
  13. Enter the actual code.
  14. Save the newly entered code.
  15. Repeat these steps for each new code you would like to add.
Q: How do I know whether to enter a Zero or the letter O? They both look the same!

The Action Replay for GameCube uses an intelligent code system and will read the number zero and the letter 0 exactly the same way. There is no need to worry about which one you're entering.

Q: I am getting error messages when entering in new codes; why?

Common Error Messages:

  • Invalid Data
  • Code Already Exists
  • Code is for Another Game
  • Not a Valid Master Code

The Action Replay uses an intelligent code system and will know if the code is correct and will save the code accordingly. If you are getting an error message when entering in new codes then you are not entering the code in correctly.

If you believe the code being entered is correct, be the codes you're using are identical to the ones found on www.codejunkies.com.

Only the official codes posted on CodeJunkies.com are supported by Datel; Unofficial codes may not function properly on your Action Replay.

Q: None of the codes preloaded in my Action Replay are working for this one specific game; what could the problem be?

It's possible that there is more than one version of the game you're trying to use with the ActionReplay.

Check the website, www.codejunkies.com, to see if there is more than one set of codes posted for that game.

For example:

Super Smash Bros. Melee
Super Smash Bros. Melee v1.1
Super Smash Bros. Melee v1.2

If more than one set of codes is posted, than there is more than one version of that game. You will need to make sure you are using the codes specifically made for the version of the game you are currenly playing.

If you look on the underside of the game disc, it should have a version number on it. It will resemble this:

DOL XXXX 0-00
or
DOL XXXX 0-01
or
DOL XXXX 0-02
etc.....

The "0-00" and "0-01" indicate the version of the game.

Q: Do you still sell the GameCube Action Replay upgrade disc and if so how can I purchase it?

Unfortunately we have discontinued the upgrade disc for the GameCube Action Replay.
