- Datel Technical Support Team

Q:My games is not recognized by Action replay and is showing “Unknown Game†when inserted; what do I do?

If your Action Replay DS does not recognize one or more of your games when inserted, please ensure that your Action Replay has codes for the game in question by connecting it to your PC as described in the manual and checking the codelist on the left-hand side. Try updating these codes to the latest US versions by dragging the game listing from the Codejunkies US section on the right side over to the left. After successfully updating these codes, return to the home screen of your Action Replay and re-insert the game.

If you have the DS Action Replay with the pass-through port at the top, please try removing the Action Replay DS at the main menu screen when it says “Insert Game Cartâ€. Insert your game into the DS slot without the Action Replay. If the game is recognized this way, you can select the codes that you wish to use and click “Start†without putting the Action Replay DS back into the DS.

If you still receive the error “Unknown Gameâ€, then unfortunately you may have an alternate version of the game in question.

Please reply providing us with the following information for all games not recognized after the steps above have been tried.

Game Name

The Version Number for your game This will be located on the back of the game cartridge, and should look like the format below.

ADMEN0J22
or
APCEN0J13
or
ASMEN1J12
etc..

The Game ID Please follow these steps to find the Game ID Turn on the Nintendo DS with the Action Replay inserted

At the Main Menu when you are instructed to “Insert Game Cartâ€, remove the Action Replay and insert the game.

On the top screen of the DS, the name of the game (or Unknown Game) will appear.

The number under the Game Name is the Game ID. Please write down the Game ID and reinsert the Action Replay DS.

Q: Using the the Quick Update feature of the code manager software returns the “Could Not Open Fileâ€error; is there a way to fix this?

From time we need to perform routine server maintenance to ensure our website and software are operating efficiently and seamlessly. While this maintenance is being performed, you may experience problems connecting to the code database, as well as the "Quick Update" feature of the Action Replay DS Code Manager Software. You may add new games to the Action Replay during these times manually by dragging the individual game title to the left side of the software from the subscriptions window. We have also created a subscription to the Quick Update through our customer service website. Add the following URL to the subscriptions window of your Code Manager Software and you will be able to have access to the latest Quick Update.

The Quick Update subscription URL, provided by Datel Customer Service is:
http://www.datelcustomerservice.com/Nintendo%20DS/codelists/ARDS_RSS.xml

To add codes from another website to your subscriptions list, you will need to find the link to that website's RSS Feeds (not all websites have this). Once you have the correct link, perform the following steps:

  1. Click on the Add New Subscription Button in the AR DS Software.
  2. Copy the link into the "Add New Subscription" Box.
    Sample URL:
    http://www.datelcustomerservice.com/Nintendo%20DS/codelists/ARDS_RSS.xml
  3. Click “OKâ€

If successful, you will see any code lists included in the subscription which can be expanded to display their games and codes.

Q: My Action Replay does not allow me to transfer new codes, it says “Not Enough Free spaceâ€; is my AR broken?

Try resetting the Action Replay by following these steps:

  1. Insert the Action Replay into the DS
  2. While the Action Replay software is loading, press and hold all the following buttons: A + B + Start + Select.
  3. Release all of the buttons once the Action Replay is at the main menu.

The first screen should persist for much longer than normal, and when the Action Replay DS main menu loads, your hardware should be reset.

Once the reset has been performed, try connecting the USB cable to your PC, opening up the code manager software and transferring data again.

Q: How do I add a new subscription for a website other than www.codejunkies.com to the Code Manager Software? ( I keep getting “Error Connecting To Subscription†messages.)

To add codes from another website to your subscriptions list, you will need to find the link to that website's RSS Feeds (not all websites have this).

Once you have the correct link, you can click on the Add New Subscription Button in the AR DS Software and copy the link into the "Add New Subscription" Box.

If successful, you will see any code lists included in the subscription which can be expanded to display their games and codes.

Q: I'm receiving a “Load Failed†message in the Subscriptions section of the Code Manager Software; how do I fix this?

From time to time we must perform routine server maintenance to ensure our website and software are operating efficiently and seamlessly. While this maintenance is being performed, you may experience problems connecting to the code database and receive a load failed error message upon clicking the "+" next to any of the three Codejunkies.com subscriptions.

Upon opeing the Action Replay Code Manager software, you should see 3 different code lists:

  • Codejunkies US Games
  • Codejunkies UK Games
  • Codejunkies JP Games

If these three listings are not being displayed in the subscriptions window, and a "Load Failed" message appears instead, there may be a problem with your PC disabling a connection between the software and our servers. Try disabling any Antivirus or Firewall software that may be enabled, as these can prohibit a connection to our server.

Q: How can I manually enter codes onto my Action Replay DS?

First you will need to update your Action Replay DS to the latest firmware. To do this, click on the Software Upgrade button in the upper-right corner of the Code Manager to download the latest version of the PC software. Afterwards, click the button again to download the latest firmware update for your DS AR.

FIRMWARE VERSIONS BELOW 1.60

If you are having difficulty establishing a connection between your PC and your DS Action Replay, please review the steps below. If you continue to encounter problems, please be sure to specify what operating system is in use on your PC. (Windows XP, Windows Vista, etc..)

  1. Install and upgrade your software
    • If the Action Replay Code manager software is not installed, insert the disc included with your AR and allow setup to proceed automatically.  Once the software is installed, click on the Software Upgrade button in the upper-right corner to download the latest version of the PC software.  Afterwards, you may also click the button again to download the latest firmware update for your DS AR.

  2. Ensure the DS AR disc is inserted in your CD-Rom drive
    • The drivers for your DS AR are located on this disc, and it should be accessible when the device is connected to the PC.  If the software has already been installed, and the setup automatically begins when re-inserting the disc, you may cancel the setup wizard.

  3. Activate Updating Mode
    • Insert your Action Replay into the DS, and power on the DS.  When you see the Action Replay main menu, tap the button that looks like a mouse.  This will cause the device to enter updating mode.  In this mode, there will always be a bar on the bottom screen labeled Updating.  This bar will be red when empty, and fill with green when data is being transferred to the DS AR.  Once the bar fills with green and a data transfer is complete, it will return to the red empty state.  In addition, the status screen at the top will continue to list the last action after a transfer.  Please keep a close eye on the bar and any status windows in the PC software when transferring data to the device.  Data Transfer should never be interrupted, so do not disconnect the device or power off the DS during any transfer.  If a window detailing transfer on the PC goes away, or the bar returns to its red state after filling with green, then it should be safe to disconnect the device.

  4. Connect the DS Action Replay to the PC
    • Connect the small end of the included cable to the DS AR.  Use care when inserting the cable, as excessive pressure can cause the cartridge to eject.  Next, connect the other end of the USB cable to a free USB port on the back of your PC.  Some users may have USB ports on both the front and back of the PC, but the ports on the back are preferable.  Do not connect the DS AR through a USB Hub.  After connection, allow the drivers to install automatically on the PC.
  5. Open the Action Replay Code Manager software
    • After the drivers have been installed, open the Code Manager software and you should see “NDS Codes†in the left-hand window.  At this point, you may drag-and-drop individual games from the subscriptions window on the right side on to your DS on the left.  If a firmware update was downloaded using the Software Upgrade button, you may be prompted to transfer the update at this time.  If you still see “Waiting for DS†in the left window, try disconnecting the cable from your PC and reconnecting it to a different USB port on the back of the PC.
